After the fire.
Over the last two years I have concentrated my painting studies on the heathland opposite
my home. I was inspired by burnt, blackened gorse bushes, and in front was a statuesque,
flowering foxglove. The contrast was magnificent and inspired my project.
My study is of 6 plants that reappear in the same growing season. They are all set against
burnt gorse sticks. These are presently in London for the RHS Botanical art exhibition at the
Saatchi gallery. The paintings shown here are others that I did for the study but chose not to
send to London.
